I am a neolibertarian minded individual who feels that freedom and individual rights take precedence over the wants of government. I believe government exists to serve the people and not to protect us from ourselves. I am an advocate for private firearms ownership, smaller government, reduced taxes and freedom to live your life however you choose, providing you do not directly hurt others.

A Feast For Crows
This latest installment of Gearge R. R. Martin's "A Song of Fire and Ice" series isn't quite as gripping as the previous books but is still a pretty good read.

Book 10 in the Sword of Truth series continues to keep the reader riveted while repeatedly emphasizing the duty and importance of self defense.

Death to America Day

This just in from Michelle Malkin:
Today is "Death to America" day according to the official islamic Republic of Iran's calendar. Apparently, some local Iranian officials planned to celeberate this day at a group event at a Bethesda MD Marriott hotel. Strangely, the hotel was actually going to host this event, until patriotic activists made a fuss and the hotel realized it was a violation of Federal Law to do business with Iran.

This is wrong on so many levels!
  1. If there really is an official "Death to America" day on a government recognized Iranian calendar, why aren't we setting off some fireworks over there to help them celebrate it? There's nothing like a Daisy Cutter to kick off a party.
  2. Why would any business in America, let alone a respected hotel, even consider hosting such an event for money? I would think that would be the death of the company as hopefully patriotic Americans would boycott it out of existence.
  3. Why aren't people on US soil attempting to celebrate a "Death to America" day guilty of some sort of crime and rounded up? If they are Americans, wouldn't that have to be treason?
If a foreign government declares a "Death to America" day, we should turn it into "Hide in a Hole" day for that government until they take it off of their calendar. While it may not necessarily be an act of war, "Death to America" day is dangerously close to being a casus beli.
