Anyone Can Make A Difference
Over the years I've often heard people express their frustration with politics, government, etc. These same dissatisfied people often felt that they, as individuals, are powerless to make any kind of difference in their community, state or nation. Fortunately, they are wrong!
In less than half a year, over 1,000 different people have visited this blog. According to my tracking logs, many of these people are frequent repeat visitors. Some of the visitors came from hyperlinks within web based email accounts, which means people liked this site enough to send it to friends and those friends then clicked on the link in their email to get here. In short, my ideas are reaching people, and they are doing so via a blog that costs me nothing but a few hours a week to maintain. You can do the same!
I realize that 1,000 people over a few months isn't exactly CNN.com, but it is still 1,000 more people than I would have influenced had I not created this blog. If you add this to the number of people who have visited the www.LestDarknessFall.com web site, I have reached many thousands of people in the past six months. For the past few weeks my blog traffic has been increasing at a rate of roughly 50% per week, which bodes well for the future.
The reason I point this out is not to congratulate myself but rather to show people that anyone can easily get their ideas out into the arena of public though. For those of you who feel strongly about a topic and want your voice to be heard, consider doing something about it. Write a book or make a web site. Create a blog or submit a "Letter to the Editor" in your local newspaper. Write your city councilman, congressman or senator. Don't let the nightly news and morning paper convince you that your ideas are part of a small minority and that nobody else agrees with you. You'd be surprised at how many people you can influence simply by taking action and sharing your ideas.
Thank you to everyone who visits this blog, and especially to everyone who is spreading the word to others!
